ChatGPT in Marketing

ChatGPT in Marketing

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come a long way of late. Robots and automated task tools are accessible to us more than ever. No longer a far-off idea that we only dreamed about when we were kids (personally Rosey the Robot from The Jetson’s springs to mind), I bet some of us use AI without even knowing it. However, the most recent AI platform to be turning heads and minds would have to be ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI.

ChatGPT is an AI chatbot, but with language skills so advanced, thanks to its natural language processing tool, it creates human-like responses, to allow for more human-like conversations even though one of the parties having the conversation is in fact a robot (again, Rosey’s blue cylinder face and red button eyes jumps to mind). It is constantly ‘learning’ as it gathers data from all corners of the internet (textbooks, websites, articles etc) to enhance its very broad knowledge range.

So, what can you use ChatGPT for when it comes to your marketing? Well, since launched in November 2022, ChatGPT has been used more and more. Here is how we love to utilise ChatGPT:

  • Content Creation. An excellent tool to assist with many aspects of social media content, such as captions, hashtag suggestions or even finding specific emoji’s for use in captions (Yep! How cool is that!????), even content ideas for your blog (I promise you this blog is being typed and created by an actual person, no Rosey in sight!). It can even help you with composing emails, subject lines or introductions. It is also helpful to use for brainstorming ideas, creating video scripts, writing poems or helping construct a song!
  • Website Creation. Utilise ChatGPT for website copy ideas, as well as spell and grammar check, and it can even assist with website coding and error troubleshooting. Let it help generate colour palettes and hex codes too!
  • Customer Support. ChatGPT is more advanced than the standard chatbot, which can assist your customers with recommendations and help answer FAQ’s, which can allow focus on other areas of your business.
  • Translation. ChatGPT can even translate text in different languages. This can assist in communication as well as learning and information sharing, particularly helpful in multinational companies to ensure that key marketing messages are not being lost in translation.

Of course, with all of these tasks being automated and generated through the use of AI technology this could impact different roles within a workplace, and the ethical responsibilities of AI should be considered. AI does not have the intuitive intelligence that we humans possess, so there is a risk of lack of commonsense and reasoning when solely relying upon AI, that is why we recommend that AI does not replace humans, but instead a useful tool for content – which needs to be edited.

So, is it free to use? Yes and no. There is a free version available that gives you access to pretty much everything the program is designed to do, but this version is more likely to experience ‘ChatGPT capacity error’ when the system is overloaded. ChatGPT Plus is the paid version, with all the same access as the free version but with the added bonus of rockstar access to new features and priority speed in busier times allowing for faster responses. Will it remain free to everyone in the future? We are not sure but more than likely there will be a free version available, but the access features may not always be the same as what they are now.
