How do you choose a good VA?

So, at the end of last year, you made a promise to yourself to get your business admin under control, perhaps to even update the website and make more of an effort in your social media presence… Buuuuutttt, you have been so busy with all the day-to-day in your business, that these tasks have been neglected once again. Oh dear…

Honestly, this happens all the time, small business owners are so busy doing all the ‘things’ that make up their business and sometimes (who am I kidding) MOST of the time the ‘To Do List’ just grows and grows, like weeds in the garden, untamed.

It’s time for you to do something about it! Don’t worry I’m not talking about making your work day longer (I bet it already feels like it is infiltrating all parts of your life), I’m talking about working smarter. Yep, working smarter, not harder is actually super easy to achieve through the help of outsourcing tasks. Just like that pesky calendar that never seems to be updated – therefore never accurate, getting a new flyer or information pack organised to send to prospective clients or trying to streamline your processes using automation. These too, along with the tasks at the top of the page can be outsourced, through the help of a good Virtual Assistant (VA) who specialises in marketing.

Are you breathing a sigh of relief now?

Now that you know that the help is out there, how do you choose a good VA to help you with your business?

I always recommend my clients to make a list of all the tasks that they would like completed, this can be per project or on an ongoing basis. Now you can start your search for your ideal VA partner.

A good place to start is the VA Directory. You can post a job here or search VAs who have the skills that you require to tick off that admin ‘To Do List’. You can also do a google search, or even by using hashtags in social media such as #vaaustralia #smallbusinessva #virtualmarketingassistant

Once you have a few names, it is important to do your research, get references from them, ask their clients about their work and ease to work with. The working world has changed, and being part of a remote team is very much the norm for many. Enjoy the fact that you don’t need to spend money on setting up a new staff member with equipment or space, just get the project done and move on to the next, with zero set-up expenses.

If you would like to discuss with me projects that you need help with, I’d love to have a chat with you and work out a plan on how I can assist.

The form you have selected does not exist.

I'm Michelle Tolhurst the owner, director of Creative Desk Pty Ltd. I'm your virtual marketing assistant working with small businesses around Australia in their creative communications, email campaigns, websites, social media and desktop publishing.
